Making Correctional Research Make Sense
Session 2: Implementing RNR in Under-Resourced Settings: Practical Tips, Tools, and Solutions
September 22 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT
What happens when the gold standard isn’t feasible? This session explores the realities of working in jurisdictions where staffing, technology, validated assessment tools, and programming are limited. Drawing on the principles of the Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) model, we will discuss practical, evidence-informed strategies for identifying security and intervention needs using readily available information. We will also examine realistic approaches to delivering interventions in resource-constrained settings. Participants will leave with evidence-informed solutions that can be adapted to their own correctional environments.
Featuring: Dr. Shelley Brown (IACFP Board Member) and Dr. Mark Olver
